Social Media and Community Engagement Internship Agreements / Accountabilities:
All interns are requested to commit to the 6-9 month internship period.
Internship work plans are co-designed by the individual interns and HJC’s Founding Director. Therefore, interns are: 1) empowered to create work plans that excite them and meet their needs for learning and growth, and, 2) create timelines and deadlines for tasks that truly work for them.
We practice the DJ Principle of sustainability and move at the pace of our body-minds. If an intern cannot complete a task by the agreed upon deadline, the expectation is that they will communicate this to their HJC contact as soon as possible and by the deadline, if not before. In a case such as this, we request the intern propose an alternative timeline that will meet their needs and also request whatever support they may require to complete the task. We are all here to learn together and support each other. To put disability justice into practice and prevent the overwhelm that often contributes to ‘ghosting,’ needs for more time and/or support will be addressed with solidarity and care.
The Social Media and Community Engagement Intern is expected to meet via Zoom or phone with their HJC staff or member contact 1x per week in the 1st month of the internship. After this time, meetings can be on an as needed basis.
