Carrie Ann Lucas, a disability rights attorney who pioneered representation for parents with disabilities and was a member of ADAPT, a grassroots group of disability rights activists, (Lucas gained national attention in June 2017 after staging a multiday protest inside the office of Sen. Cory Gardner (R-CO)), died after being denied a $2000 cold medication by her health insurer UnitedHealthcare, which caused a plethora of health problems, exacerbating her disabilities and eventually leading to her premature death, according to a February 24 post on her Facebook page.

Mourning and raging for this tragic and profoundly unjust loss.
